Summer Reading
I hope you are enjoying Lord of the Flies by William Golding and To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I absolutely loved both these books and have thoroughly enjoyed re-reading them this summer! They are classics that make you think about the nature of mankind and I promise, they are books that you will never forget. Actually, To Kill a Mockingbird, is probably my most favorite book of all time. I am a southerner from Mississippi who grew up during the Civil Rights Movement. It touched me in a way that no other book has. As a sideline, this July marks the 50th anniversary of its publication. Google it and you’ll find many articles about Harper Lee and the impact that book has had on civil rights, the south and readers worldwide. It is one of those books that everyone should read and you’ll find that it can start up a conversation just about anywhere you happen to be. Welcome to high school…and books that change you!
